How to measure for a pair of curtains

Always measure in cm for better accuracy.

Width:
Measure width of pole between finials, if it’s a track measure end to end.
If the pole or track is not yet in position, the general guide is it will sit25cm either side of the window recess.
If you want to create an illusion of a wider window add extra width to themeasurement of the track/pole

Length/ drop
Measure the curtain drop from the top of your track or pole.
If the pole or track is not in position yet, the general guide is it will sit 15cmabove the window recess should the ceiling height allow it.
Floor length, deduct 1cm clearance away from the floor(to avoid dust collecting on the hem) or if you prefer an over sized puddled curtain add an extra 30cm to the overall floor length
Window sill length generally sits 10cm below, or radiator length curtains shouldbe 2-3cm above the top of the radiator so the heat does not escape behind thecurtain

How to measure for roman blinds

Recess Fitting
Recess fitting is inside the window, to fit inside the window recess measure the full width and height of the recess, take 3 measurements in (top, middle, bottom) as windows are not built symmetrical.
Take the smallest measurement and deduct 1cm to allow a nice and easy up and down action of your blind.

Outside recess fitting
This is if you want your blind to fit outside your window recess,
Measure the size of the recess, then add a little extra on all sides to ensure adequate coverage, we suggest 7cm at the top and sides to minimise daylight exposure when the blind is down
The overlap at the bottom of the blind is a matter of taste but take into account hindrance such as radiators or sills that protrude further than the recess.

Are Roman Blinds easy to fit yourself?
Yes they are really easy, an 'L' shape bracket (supplied with your blind) requires 2 screws to attach it to the wall or window recess
Once the brackets are screwed to the surface the blind simply slots in to it, its a very simple DIY job.
